Title: Why Bamboo?
Bamboo is, in my opinion where babies clothing and bedding is heading, and will be a main stream material, it’s just a matter of time.
Bamboo ticks all the box’s and some that were never on the list before.
Firstly it is eco friendly –
Bamboo grows to maturity within 4 to 5 years, and is self generating. Bamboo grows without the aid of fertilizers and insecticides (cotton growing accounts for a reported 25% of the world’s fertilizers and insecticides usage) Bamboo is the world’s most sustainable plant, it also releases 35% more oxygen than equivalent stands of trees.
Bamboo 100% biodegradable and non-toxic: As a natural cellulose fiber, bamboo is 100% biodegradable and the decomposition process does not cause any pollution to the environment.
Great for baby
Bamboo is soft and silky to touch, bamboo has natural wicking properties, meaning that it absorbs moisture – like sweat, away from you babies skin and evaporates it quickly, and is lightweight, very breathable and hypoallergenic, which is great news for babies with eczema and other skin conditions. Bamboo fibre is also a natural UV protective qualities.
Bamboo is anti-bacterial, with a 70% elimination rate when incubated with bacteria, even after 50 washes.
